The Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs has been in the news lately (The Independent, Jan 2011) talking about his practise of yoga and how it has prolonged his career and allowed him to stay at the top of his game well into his late 30s. He has even released his own yoga dvd showing how he has used yoga to make his body fitter, stronger and more flexible and resistant to injury. In an older article in the Times, 2008, he talks about how he dreaded his yoga sessions for the first year because of how exhausting they were and how he ached after- something that probably ties in with the blog below about the resistance to yoga. Giggs obviously continues his practise and works through resistances due to the enormous benefit to his professional career.
